Lira is a Chilean Communist who happens to have US citizenship. He is jailed because he has been a vocal pro-Russian propagandist since the war started in 2022 and was very disappointed that his domicile in Kharkov wasn't overrun by his Russian buddies.
Carlson is revealing himself as a sensationalist, opportunistic liar. Everyone recognizes how that description fits the propagandists on CNN and MSNBC. But the right has them also.
