I do not believe that they have any protection under the Geneva Convention's Law of Land Warfare. They are not lawful combatants, but common criminals.

I know the Atlantic will have an article by an Accredited International Lawyer arguing that they are entitled by such protections, but inshallah, they'll all be dead by then.
