1980s to 1995 I would go vacation in Maine. Half the reason was to eat myself silly from eating the (free) mussels I would gather. Then grill them at the campground. I suppose you can still do this today. It was about 6$ per day at the National Park campground. And they were not crowded in June when we would go.
