Where do you get your mobilization idea?
It is Ukraine that is scraping for troops.

Are you confusing Russian mobilization with the typical semiannual callup of conscripts for mandatory military service?

Conscripts do not serve outside of Russian territory unless there is a declared war. Now there is none, though hardliners have pressured Putin to scrap the SMO and go to full war footing.

Shoigu indicates that since the SMO, Russia has mobilized about 400,000 men.
This was done by calling up reservists, inviting former military to rejoin as contract forces ( with hefty salary and bennies) and having the districts of the RF to form mobilized units of volunteers. Also forming redemption units from prisoners and from Ukes that defected or POWs electing to fight for Russia.

All of the mobilized required 2 -6 months of training before being deployed. ( Ukes on the other hand, get 2 weeks if being sent as fodder)

Most of the Russian mobilized have not yet been deployed to frontline combat…if Ukraine had broken through the Surovikin lines to TokMak, there may have been tens of thousands of Russian troops waiting for them. The mobilized in rear reserve may require more training to stay proficient if not deployed soon. It is this troop-heavy reserve of hundreds of thousands of the mobilized…that keep western analysts waiting and guessing about a true Russian offensive move this winter or spring.

Russia govt has issued orders to increase the overall size of the Russian military. So conscription numbers will be increasing. The next tranche will be in Jan-Feb, I believe. Western “ analysts” and Ukraine will spin this normal action as an offensive threat. However, conscripts are for defense of the homeland, not war in Ukraine. Though the defense of the annexed territories ( which may include 5 or more oblasts not the original Donbass, and possibly Odessa) ) will require eventually a larger Russian army,

First I will call BS on the 2-6 months training, second that’s why (though law means little to Putin, appearances seem to) the Ukrainian territories were annexed, they “are” part of Russia so no restrictions.

True Russia has annual conscription, have you noticed their tours are indefinitely extended. And calling up “reservists” is no different than mobilization. Your number is 400k plus nearly four years of annual conscription so that would be 660k, plus what they had. My question was why do they need all of this if Ukraine has such loses, would assume they could roll over Ukraine anytime they wanted.

Maybe meat waves is just another “goodwill” gesture

“Redemption units” now that is a good one

Not discounting Ukraines loses or their need for more soldiers, but the hey no big deal for Russia….. that’s the one I like the best
