“The Russian army has begun the formation of high-power artillery brigades, the main task of which will be to break into enemy defenses. The new units will be armed with large-caliber artillery.
“The first high-power artillery brigade - 17th brigade - was formed as part of the 3rd Zaporozhye Army Corps. Several more similar artillery brigades will be formed in the near future in other army corps and armies in the special operation zone.
The brigades are armed with large-caliber artillery - self-propelled guns of 203 mm caliber 2S7 “Pion” and 2S7M “Malka”, as well as heavy mortars 2S4 “Tulip” of 240 mm caliber. In addition, the brigades will include unmanned aircraft units to conduct reconnaissance and fire adjustments.”

I pity the poor Ukrainians being used as cannon fodder in the frozen Ukrainian trenches. This heavy artillery capability will be directed at destroying large swathes of defensive fortifications.

Anyone with a half a heart would feel sorry for them. However, I doubt the internet posters who make money promoting this war feel any pity whatsoever. They are a heartless, wicked cabal.
203mm has a range of almost 50km. So I suspect the initial targets will be what is left of Ukraine artillery, which is mostly outranged by that.
200+ lb shell. Yikes.
Looking more and more like the Charge of the Light Brigade redo. Ukraine gets to pLAY British lancers, Russians get to play, well, Russians with lots of cannons. Russians lost that war—but I don’t think they will this time.
