Cities, (and banks) long ago got tired of their important comms getting interrupted because someone knocked down a pole or was digging up a pipe.

These days, long distance transactions tend to go up, sometimes across, then down, and then back, through satellites.

That puts all THAT in the domain of the SPACE FORCE’s Sphere of the Multi-Domain Operations involved.

The BIG problem with satellite comms is that they aren't very useful for high data rate, simultaneous, two-way connections. They are also relatively expensive when compared to regular fiber-optic internet traffic.

Light travels ~11.8 inches in one nanosecond. There are a lot of distance in an up-over-down satellite link. Those nanoseconds really add up creating DELAY.

I agree that any communication going through a satellite is fair game for Space Force. You should know that there is no expectation of privacy for anything communication sent over the air.
