General Daniel James selected me as the Outstanding Airman of the Year for 1976 at the base I was at. I was forced to go to Race Relations and almost received an Article 15 because I argued with the presenters when they told me the Sons of Confederate Veterans was a racist radical organization and the Black Panthers an altruistic beneficial organization. Finally a Chief pulled me aside and told me to just listen to them blow excrement and get the hell out of there. This was in the early 1970's.
When I received the AOY for the Medical Center, the base, and the command I would have never received it had I not been significantly superior because there were black females competing.
***Blacks ran the EM clubs and so they tailored it for the black male and put pressure on white chicks to date blacks. ***
I remember those dances at the EM clubs. No white airman ever went to them.1966-1969.
