I can't get past my ad-blocker to read the story, so maybe there is more to it, but, with food prices what they are this year, I can understand someone wanting to pass the hat.
It would be good for people to offer to bring something to pass or to chip in if they can’t.
Based on her admission and past history, that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
