Looks to me like Mayor Johnson refuses to accept these facts:
Democrats held the slaves.
Republicans freed the slaves.
It’s pretty simple and straightforward, Mayor Johnson.
Wrong. Part of “Democrat” Virginia (AKA West Virginia) seceded to side with the Union and the State of Kentucky never voted to secede at all. Lincolns Emancipation only applied to states “In Rebellion” so both remained slave states until after the war ended. Slavery wasn’t until the 13th Amendment was ratified later on.
