A few years ago I took a BMW i3 for an overnight test drive. It was the model with the backup gas engine, the engine being for recharging the battery, not propelling the car.

When I got it home I plugged it into the wall and 14 hours later the battery went from completely empty to about 10%.

It was then that I knew I would never,*EVER*,own an EV.

My friend takes the batteries out and stores them away from his house. Maybe an out building.

“And while EVs are growing in popularity,...”
Am I missing something?

They seem to be very popular at the body shop ... sure saw a lot of them there.

The i3 is hot garbage. The only EV I would own is Tesla.

Get ready for the government to sue insurance companies for “red lining” EVs. They’ll be told you cannot charge a premium for EV insurance, so everybody’s rates will go up to cover the higher losses on EVs.

I’m surprised that the FJB government hasn’t done this already,

Unless Trump gets elected, of course.

That house is in SoCal, and cost depends on how much you charge. I’m on an SCE rate plan for EVs that charges $0.29/kWh off-peak, and .55 on-peak.

It's mind-boggling how hard the Japanese find it to make a car that is both distinctive and good-looking.

Ouch. I pay about .095kwh and there is no on/off peak.

So then how many kWh does it typically take you for a full charge?

I’m asking these questions as I’m contemplating getting an EV somewhere down the line and trying to figure cost

CEO OF GM STOPPED ALL MANUFACTURING OF EV’S LAST WEEK.

GM was he first maker to commit to ALL EVs, and scrapping all ICE vehicles by 2035. They are still committed to being Government Motors.

What Barra was saying is that they're lowering the number of EVs being made, but not scrapping their move to being all EV eventually.

The car’s charge stats say it was a total of $1205 for Dec. 22- Nov. 23. I don’t have exact charge stats other than what’s available in the app, as I’m not with the car. I believe it is approximately 50 kWh for a full charge.

I used to trust CR..regarding cars...reports seem to be written by Karen’s.
Funniest criticism I remember was that they commented that a Chevy truck had a shortcoming in that it rode like a truck.
Would have never brought my 331,000, and counting, mile Chevy Cobalt if I had listened to them.
