@RepThomasMassie
I agree with the title “Reaffirming the State of Israel’s Right to Exist” and much of the language, but I’m voting No on the resolution because it equates anti-Zionism with antisemitism. Antisemitism is deplorable, but expanding it to include criticism of Israel is not helpful.

It’s quaint while we continue to endure the worst censorship in the nation’s history.

It’s noisy for him but he gets to inconsequentially support free speech while folks are going to jail over memes.
Massie is slimy like David Duke.
Just saying.
On free speech grounds.
No.
“ because it equates anti-Zionism with antisemitism.”
He claims to be against anti-semitism, but not anti-Zionism, which is that Israel does not have a right to exist.
He goes in with a non-sequitur wherein he wrongly defines criticism of Israel as anti-Zionism.
“Antisemitism is deplorable, but expanding it to include criticism of Israel is not helpful.”
Criticism of Israel is not anti-Zionism.
He is a serious double-talker and weasel.
He wouldn’t vote for it because it recognizes Israel’s right to exist. He obviously disagrees with that.
It’s more nuanced than just that. I support Israeli 100% in their right to exist, to defend themselves and to destroy HAMAS and perhaps even to absorb Gaza and kick the residents out. But, I was infuriated years ago by the Pollard incident. Pretty sure Epstein was also an operative. So, yeah, I support Israel when they aren’t messing with the USA.
Standard Leftist talking point.
Zionism means Israel has a right to exist.
Does he do ANYTHING in Congress whatsoever except trolling votes?
We have 434 other Congressmen and women who will vote with the emotion and headlines of today’s media, or whatever the deep-state tells them.
How dare 1 free-thinker actually try to give us perspective and use logic!
The leftists are destroying our country right before our eyes and Massie is worried about semantics. Reminds me of the time here on FR when Obama was busy destroying our country and I would see posts from freepers only concerned that he wasn’t really eligible to be President.😧
If the squad could vote for it, he could have voted for it.
But maybe he doesn’t like the idea of anything being unanimous.
This guy Massie has made a lot of mistakes lately. I don’t know if this is one but it sure sounds like it. I don’t trust him.
“He and all the Israel critics are antisemitic.
It’s silly to pretend otherwise.”
—————
This is correct. To be against the only Jewish country, when the Holocaust is still a living memory for some, and millions of others pine for Part II, is nothing less than antisemitism, no matter how people try to couch it in different terms. Israel is certainly not a perfect nation, but it has a right to exist - and the very goal of those who constantly criticize it is to soften its victories and to weaken its ability to defend the lives of its citizens. That is, in my mind, utterly inexcusable.
>> Before you go crazy he has an explanation
“I HATE JEWS!”, Massie explained.
>> He often claims the Vietnam war started with some (otherwise?) well meaning resolutions in the House and he has warned against the ones which condemn Iran
Right. So he’s so hung up on some libtard “principle” that he fails to perceive the most obvious fact:
ISRAEL IS! NOT! FREAKING VIETNAM. NOR IS IT IRAN!!!
What an ideologically musclebound dork Massie is. Definitely not the World’s Greatest Thinker like he fancies himself to be.
Primary the son of a bitch.
But anyone who criticizes Soros is an anti-Semitic Holocaust denier and a poopy pants, and anyone who criticizes Ilhan Omar is a racist and a poopy pants, and nothing anti-Semitic about saying that the two-state solution is the final solution.
.
He’s a Con man.
Jews are not above criticism.
.
He also says he takes the Debt seriously, as he voted to save Biden’s spending behemoths and burden the kids with suffocating debt for Wars and woke projects.
i took a look at it (hard to read in small print). presumably the objectionable language for Massie was ‘...denying the right of Israel to exist is a form of antisemitism.’
humm. i generally have supported this guy (a libertarian?), but i call it weaselly for him to say he agrees in part with the bill and disagrees with the ‘Zionism’ part. he says Zionism is equated with antisemitism. again, that’s not quite what the bill says. apparently, Massie (presumably not a Zionist) thinks voting for the bill muzzles criticism of Israel. Zionists can’t criticize Israel? really, the OT is full of criticism of Israel. again, bill doesn’t say that.
the whole bill basically equates the desire of Israel’s enemies to destroy it as a ‘form of antisemitism’ the way i read it. if Israel is a Jewish theocracy, as it was historically, then that makes sense. clearly today, it’s not a Jewish theocracy, but some kind of hybrid, based on law and a constitution, like us.
but, of course, that’s not the way it’s muslim enemies take it. they consider modern Israel a ‘form’ Jewish theocracy, as the consider the US a ‘form’ of Christian theocracy, and thus, it’s an affront to Islam, the Jewish/Christian heresy, and their religion demands it’s subjugation or destruction.
oh, perhaps the bill would have been less confusing to Massie, giving him the benefit of doubt as not an anti-semite, the bill ought to define Zionism. i’ve seen a lot of them. my definition was cobbled from a study of the Bible: essentially, at my current level of Bible study, ‘Zionism’ accepts the conditional covenant of God with certain descendants of Abraham (acceptable to God, or a Remnant) who are called Israel, which gives those descendants the right to occupy, work and worship God on His claimed inheritance: His Land surrounding His City (Jerusalem) and His People living at His pleasure, on that Land.
if that’s really what he thinks—and i get that too from his tweet—i think he’s confused about what that bill says and what Zionism is. i’m starting to think he’s a bit dim. see my other comment.
