My parents were at that game as guests of some Harvard bigwig. Until the day he died, my father would never leave a game early, no matter the score, due to that game.

It was a big game because both teams were, for once, undefeated. Yale was favored, as they had a magician at QB and future Dallas star Calvin Hill at RB. Harvard scored 2 TDs and two 2-pt conversions in the last 42 seconds to tie.

“Harvard beats Yale, 29-29,” which I believe was the headline in the Harvard Crimson, ranks up there among the greatest sports headlines of all time - appropriate under the circumstances.

If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the documentary, it was made back in 2008, and they interviewed the players, including Tommy Lee Jones.
