The UN World Food Programme has expanded support for Ukrainian schools and will fund daily lunches for more than 60,000 children in 420 schools across the country.
This was announced by the wife of the President of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, Censor.NET reports.
According to the First Lady, the UN World Food Programme has expanded its support to Ukrainian schools and will fund daily lunches for more than 60,000 children in 420 schools across the country.
According to Zelenska, 58 schools in the Kyiv region received such support last year. Here, the program compensated 50% of the cost of lunch for parents.
This year, thanks to funding from the French government and private donors, the program has been expanded to 10 more regions. During the 2023-2024 academic year, it will finance 30% of daily hot lunches for students in grades 1-4 in schools in Kyiv, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Poltava regions of Ukraine.
