It’s the same with big rented apartments in NYC. People used to rent out rooms after the kids moved out, but now there are regulations against subrenting your own apartment. You must have only one other resident, and the rent paid by the roommate can’t be more than half the total rent.

It’s just as well, since the law later also changed to make anyone who lives in your apartment for more than 30 days into a legal resident who might have to be removed in court. No more automatic eviction allowed, if desired, by the lease holder, if I have all of that correct.

It’s all because of the clownishly absurd population growth. When I was in 7th grade, someone visited our social studies class to warn us that we’d better be more careful, as the population of the earth was now MORE THAN TWO BILLION!!!

I’m aware that overpopulation is not a favorite conservative point of view, but it helps to be aware of the problem, and what “geometric growth” really means. It’s the root of many if not all of our problems.

Under socialism three people are overpopulation.

Under capitalism ten billion is not enough population.

It isn't necessarily overpopulation that is driving the policies in the US. But the Ponzi scheme we call Social Security and Medicare does require an ever increasing number of working age people. That's why the government is so determined to keep importing large numbers of people.

I remember when "overpopulation" was a major talking point of the left. And some people chose to have smaller families. But now we supposedly have a shortage of workers and need to import people, even though more American adults are not working.

The "geometric growth" the government cares about is the growth in people paying Social Security and Medicare taxes who are years away from receiving payments.
