IVF is just inherently not that reliable.
I’ve heard of people who spent a quarter of a million (8 or 9 tries) before they got pregnant, and if that person gave up after 7 tries they would have spent 200K for nothing.
People usually only talk about it when they succeed and never talk about it when they fail, so it creates the impression that IVF is a straight forward procedure and a lot of career minded women think in the back of their mind, that they always can go IVF as a backup plan. They are in for a big surprise.

I know several hetero-normal folks who are divorced or separated, with kids. One has two kids from a relationship which they were never married. The woman has custody; the father has visiting rights.
It’s all screwed up nowadays. I think the “normal” situation, with a married couple, one man, one woman, for life, is very, very rare.
I think that’s very bad, but “it is what it is.” For the kid’s sake, we have to accept and love them. We have to hope they grow up and become positive contributors to our society.
