Not funny. I've been around a lesbian couple who had a baby, and fashion accessory exactly describes what it was. By the time the poor boy was about three, they'd gotten tired of it, separated, and both moved away. God only knows what happened to the kid.
IVF is just inherently not that reliable.
I’ve heard of people who spent a quarter of a million (8 or 9 tries) before they got pregnant, and if that person gave up after 7 tries they would have spent 200K for nothing.
People usually only talk about it when they succeed and never talk about it when they fail, so it creates the impression that IVF is a straight forward procedure and a lot of career minded women think in the back of their mind, that they always can go IVF as a backup plan. They are in for a big surprise.

While I agree with you in principle, I often ask what happens when a zygote (a fertilized ovum) is flushed from a woman's body (without her even knowing) before it matures into an embryo and attaches to the woman's womb? Is that death? Is that abortion? Is that murder?
It's a thought exercise: When we say "beginning at conception," should that literally mean when the ovum and sperm meet in the fallopian tube or should it mean that "life begins at implantation" after it travels to the uterus where the baby actually starts nurturing through the mother? This process could take up to a week to complete.
