An American woman can adopt Islam without dressing in any way that identifies her as Islamic.

My bet is that almost none of them do, that the Western converts ALWAYS adopt the distinct wardrobe that identifies them.

The women get structure, rules, and a new wardrobe while also being able to see themselves as rebellious as they are escaping the chaos of being independent.

Even very moderate Muslim males end up “dispatching” troublesome and quarrelsome females. Either they end up on the street begging wearing their burqas, or they are turned over to the local imam for “further corrective action”.

Neither option is pleasant.

Becoming a Muslim is a one-way ratchet to oblivion. Once you declare, there is no turning back, even if you discover glaring discrepancies between what is promised and what is delivered.
