Xi is one of the "Second Generation Reds". The SGRs are the children of the high level founders of the PRC.

The only 'real' threat Xi would face is if he imperils the finances that the SGRs wish to pass on to their children. There are already rumblings that Xi's anti-corruption campaign is doing just that.

Xi is not the only power in China, just the current leader of the pack.
