Bob, you have to break it down to the basics. As your primary internet doctor, LOL, I suggest a nice regimen of fermented foods. Try to get 3-5 different ones into you per week. One shot of ACV in the morning first thing every day. It sounds to my like your gut flora is woefully deficient.
I take a floral probiotic regularly - sachromyces boulardi (sp?) - (e.g. Florastor)
