Oh! Right!
That’s really discouraging. I would like to think that not all police are like this. Maybe yours are beaten down by a rotten Soros D.A.?
As I get older, I find that nothing works the way we were taught in Civics class. It’s all about politics, funding, taxation, etc. The cops on the beat do whatever they are rewarded for. Pretty much, everyone does. Do they get rewarded for protecting people or writing tickets? Everyone in office in Leon County, Florida, is a Democrat. Even if someone down the power pyramid wanted to do something like what we think their job should be, what is it they are instructed to do by those above? A top-level officer in the Florida Highway Patrol was fired for sending out a general email saying, in essence, “We need revenue. Get out there and write more tickets.” Someone sent it to the media, and they fired him, but a former Highway Patrol officer at the gym laughed and said that had been the general instruction they lived by for the final ten years of his employment. This guy had just been stupidly non-political enough to put in writing. We have the best government money can buy. At every level.
It's not clear that the cell phone data is sufficient to prosecute; there is being argued in the courts now.
This was MTG's argument at the time of her about-face on the subject.
There are people who live very mediocre lives and who spend their free time poring over these videos in order to identify people and submit names to the feds.
Everyone assumes that because the feds have cell phone information, air travel details and ATM transaction details that they can arrest who they want. But the info they have is not as precise as the info they need (a picture of someone at a particular location). It's the video that people are using to identify individuals; the electronic footprints are the supporting documentation.
Except the feds can't put faces to names; this part of the prosecution has been coming from the public.
Um, you’re trying to hard.
Um, the Feds had the tapes all along...
I don’t think they really care about all the legal niceties since they are already violating defendant right wholesale.
I hope they pull this post and the reason? Stupid post.
I used to trust our government, not realizing how many dark things happen in the background up there. Since Trump tried to fix our country, much of what has been in the swamp has surfaced. What adds to the discouragement is how the tentacles of corruption have spread to many local governments. We can’t even be assured that our elections are legitimate so we can vote the bums out.
I think it’s a valid concern.
