Harrowing images released by a Florida teacher show the brutal facial injuries that she suffered at the hands of 270 pound teenage student at the school where she worked as an aide.
Joan Naydich was violently attacked by Brendan Depa, then 17 years old, at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, 60 miles south of Jacksonville, in February after she told him to stop playing on his Nintendo Switch.
The autistic 6-foot 6-inch teen, now 18, was seen punching and kicking the educator in the back and head until she lay on the ground unconscious. He pleaded no contest as an adult for first-degree aggravated battery.
As he faces sentencing on January 31, Naydich has called on the judge to give him the maximum 30 years in prison.
Her injuries included five broken ribs, concussion and a loss of hearing. The new pictures show gashes on the aide's cheek, bruising around the eyes, one blood shot eye, a dent in her nose and a tear at the back of her ear.
In a new interview with Fox Orlando, Naydich said the worst injuries are internal and that the attack deeply affected her cognitive functions. 'Unfortunately, a lot of my injuries that are not visible I'm going to have for the rest of my life,' she said.
Naydich was placed on an unpaid leave of absence shortly after returning to work in August under a different title and has been surviving on charity from the community.
Her revelation comes weeks ahead of a court hearing where Depa is set to be sentenced and Naydich is calling on the former student to be locked up for the maximum of 30 years.

The pathetic “security guard” in the beating video did not even rush to try to help this poor woman. Just took his time while she was getting beaten to within an inch of her life.
“If he can use a video game, he’s not that slow.”
Go to wal mart and look at toddlers sitting in the cart with their mommas playing video games on smart phones or other devices.
Toddlers can figure those things out but I can’t.
As for your first suggestion I quite agree turn him lose in on capitol hill and see what happens.
Apparently, this young perp believed all the propaganda he was fed from the time he was born that Whites are racist, evil, and do not deserve to live.
“No way he should have been in the general population or school setting.”
Well at least we can agree mainstreaming is an epic fail
Yes but you know how inclusion ends up.
Bad
Don’t know about Florida, but here in Indiana his parents may have tried to institutionalize him with no luck. There are very few places for these types of kids to be put. They are basically walking time bombs. They can be sweet as can be one minute and beating you within an inch of your life the next with no warning. It’s not if, but when they will hurt somebody. Sometime the parents can handle it when the kids are little, but once they get to this age and size that disappears. Think of someone this size in a blind uncontrollable rage. A two-legged pit bull. Often their parents are left to deal with them with little help. We can find all kinds of money to carve up little kid’s bodies for the pleasure of the LGBTQ community, but there is not much there for families that really need help with real problems. It can be a scary situation. I have a friend who has a daughter who was diagnosed as a danger to herself, and others. By the time she was 5 she had been thrown out of school for seriously injuring another child in her class. She has attacked doctors and nurses, her mother, and students and teachers at her Special Ed school. She was kicked out of an ABA school for uncontrollable behavior and needed to be held in a restraint chair at the local children’s hospital. Her mother tried everything to get her help and was told by local DCS that what she, the mother, really needed was to go get her nails done. It would make her feel better. The ‘specialists’ that were supposed to offer respite time for the mother all quit after the first appointment because they couldn’t handle her. It literally took intervention from a state legislator that took a personal interest in their story to get the girl placed. She has been there for 4 years under around the clock supervision from two trained staff members. In a year and a half when she turns 21, she will be released because she’ll age out of the facility. Her mother is petrified.
Try to find a facility that can handle a kid like this. There are few if any mental institutions left and prisons aren’t meant to handle this type of behavior.
How can they not give her worker’s compensation?
So what do you think the boy’s punishment should be since he is “autistic?” A time out?
ADX Florence can handle them.
The “law or laws” was passed with the best of intentions.
The “do-gooders” all swooned or said it was a good start but didn’t go far enough! The “states” were happy to drop the funding of such ‘institutions” they expensive to man properly and lawsuit targets,
Consequences of such “do-gooderism” are never considered in the calculus of such nobler deeds!
But it does look good on the 6 o’clock news if your true goal is reelection! No one ever asks of even tallies up the consequences!
Ok with me. Life in an asylum for the criminally insane. No parole.
Locking up is too good, for this animal.
I don’t understand why she isn’t suing the school and why she doesn’t apply for disability at least.
Seeing as how the girl’s self-injurious behavior centers around smashing her head through gypsum wallboard, I’m not sure a poured concrete wall is the best option. The facility she is in now has padding on the walls for her safety. If she could stay there as an adult, it would be wonderful, but government bureaucracies seem to think age cures Autism.
He needed to be in an institution before this.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Perhaps, but now he needs to be in a casket.
Depa’s attorneys have highlighted his mental deficits and argued he wasn’t competent to stand trial.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
I agree, so just hang him!
Joan is fortunate to be alive.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
So is he.
Bump
The only way.........
