Firstly, I want to start with a disclaimer. This is a short piece. But this topic could easily be the subject of a long essay or even a book, so I’ll just concentrate on what I think are some key points.
Western culture is often seen as arising with the ancient Greeks, with Socrates, Plato and the others who gave us philosophy, geometry and democracy. Move forward and we reach the end of paganism and the beginning of organised religion. Christianity gave us original sin. This concept didn’t come from Jesus, although some Christians believe it originated in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, but came from the writings and ideas of St Augustine, who was born in 354 AD:

“Western culture” has been bastardized by commies, fascists, maoists, etc. It is the erasure of Western culture that is the problem.
Western culture was undermined when multiculturalism was the fad. It started out as a festival of food and customs. Now immigrants want to replace us.

As imperfect as Western civilization/culture is...and always has been...it is,far and away,the best “culture” ever developed by human civilization..
The further away we get from God and the positive changes made with the awakenings, the more of a crap hole society we become (like much of the rest of the world).
That's not a race thing as is often thought of when we say "west". This is an issue of people loving and trusting God enough to live it like we mean it, including in how we treat others and also including how little faith we put in our god-denying political class.

Western Culture is just fine. 1950s America had a damn near perfect culture. It was the “diversity” and “multiculturalism” worshippers who removed God from our schools and our society that American culture became depraved.
Kinda like democracy is the worst gov’mt structure, until compared to all of the others.

Sadly many people doing well in our Western Culture look back and wish for the “good old days” of the Stone Age and the mud hut hovel.
I never look back and wish for those times. I remember the abject poverty we lived in on the High Plains. While remembering some good times I would not want to live them again.

It was the left which brought about the doctrine of people being "good" at birth.
It is completely wrong. Anyone who has raised children know you do not have to teach a child to lie and steal, or to attack others. It comes as part of being human.
It is also seen in science. In evolutionary theory, gene groups find ways to be selfish and propagate. If cheating advances the individual produce more offspring, cheating is rewarded.
Almost all animals have territory and compete for mates, territory, food, and shelter.

Hey, Howard! You do realize that Jesus was born around 4 B.C., right? That is about 358 years before Augustine, right? Just checking.
Howard Thorp is a rabid socialist/communist. He sees capitalism as an unredeemable system that favors the rich and hurts the poor. To some degree, he's right. The bailouts our government has given to "too big to fail" institutions/corporations while not treating the individual the same gives credence to those who critize capitalism as primarily benefiting the rich. The size of our government and its debt negatively skews the virtues of 'Adam Smith' capitalism. Billionaire oligarchs and their stooges (News media, Education systems etc.) control western democracies. I found it interesting that Thorp believes the French Revolution as the most important event in history. We know that the French Revolution came about because the elites (royalty/nobility) were tone deaf, ignoring the needs of the poor and middle-class. Sound familiar?
Thorp fails to acknowledge the weaknesses and shortcomings of socialism and communism. This is his intellectual dishonesty. The truth is that any 'system' can be corrupted because governing systems are run by men.
The Founders were wise because they attempted to create a government based on checks and balances so that absolute power and corruption could be challenged. Let's pray and act to project the government envisioned by the Founders and a capitalist system envisioned by Adam Smith. This will require that those in power (government and business) humble themselves ask for and receive God's wisdom - and then act on it.

Yep, things were going just fine until multiculturalism was forced onto the western world.
