This is like the Cuban Missile Crisis - NATO installed nuclear weapons in Turkey so Russia did the same in Cuba. Now, NATO agreed not to expand west towards Russia, NATO broke the agreement. Russia will not accept Ukraine as part of NATO. They said this years before this proxy war began.
