Yes, could be. Any parent with two or more kids knows they all turn out very different even with the exact same home environment and upbringing.
Based on my own observations over the years I would say most American parents coddle their children. In middle class neighborhoods its rare that you see children do any work around the house or helping out with chores. Instead its a steady routine of sports, shopping trips, movie outings, etc. Its one form entertainment after another.
This work free life breeds entitlement and a detachment from reality IMO.
