I still depends on the particular internet app service and what hidden scripts they happen to use. It takes a little testing to see what combination will or will not allow content and still block the restrictions.
Some you just can’t override at all, but many of the same “free” apps found on Roku can be twisted to be made to work for you on a PC using NoScript. And of course those free apps still have commercials. I just get up and go get another cup of coffee. :)
But if you have a good streaming internet service Roku has a lot for free. I am not sure about live sporting events unless you get a subscription for internet sports channel apps. But these do tend to be much cheaper through internet than on cable. :)
We do use roku...not clear how to use no scripts with it on tv...
