Driving just outside of town in rural Illinois ten years ago on a rainy day. Four-lane road with a center turn lane. A deer came charging out of some woods. I thought it was going to slam into the side of the car in front of me. Instead, it leapt over the car, landed in the center lane, and went sprawling spread-eagle on the slippery pavement. It then continued spinning on its belly across the opposing two lanes. Once it spun onto the shoulder, it got up and ran across an open field.
My wife was on a charity bike ride toward the end of the day and tired. All of a sudden everything blacked out. She managed to bring her bike to a halt without falling off but was very disoriented. the rider behind her told her a large deer had jumped across the road at my wife’s eye level about one foot in front of her.
