The US Govt tells us the proxy war is about defending democracy. They know their puppet wouldn’t win re-election.

I have been saying this all along.

I view Ukraine as simply another part of the Soviet Union, all birthed by the same mother, breast fed the same mother’s milk.

They were sent to the same schools for the same educations, and they worked in the same tyrannical environments, Ukrainians and Russians driving the Black Mariahs to pick up innocent people in the early morning to throw them in the Gulag, occupying high level offices, up to and including the General Secretary.

Ukrainians will protest they were starved by the Russians back in the early Thirties, and that is true. It is also true that many of their fellow Ukrainians took part in starving their fellow Ukrainians.

They are equally steeped in the same culture of evil, tyranny, and corruption. They goose-stepped together in their high-topped boots while on military parade, Ukrainians and Russians side by side in the Soviet government and military.

They are both oligarchies. Ukraine is an oligarchy that simply has a veneer of “democratically elected officials” laid on top, while Russia is a dictatorship layered on an oligarchy.

I may sympathize with Ukraine who was invaded by its former family member while trying to mind its own business, and I might take grim satisfaction at seeing Russia eat up its own military while it gets its nose bloodied, but the bottom line is...

Neither is deserving of our involvement or support. There is ZERO reason we should send a single cent of taxpayer money (which we have to borrow anyway) to Ukraine.

You can’t compare US elections in WW2 (while under no domestic threat, ie campaigning and voting could proceed safely) or in safe locations a few miles away from ground forces fighting during civil wartime (again campaigning and voting in relative safety) to holding a national election while having long range missiles thrown at you on a daily basis.

People who think it’s perfectly normal to run an election while under bombardment, are people who’ve never had to try it.

The UK suspended elections while the Luftwaffe was bombing British cities; good choice because it’s what responsible governments do when they care more for their civilians than for a political win.

Churchill lost the election when it was finally feasible to hold it, and he left the office in good grace.

While we now have a fixed term parliament, there are exceptions in the event that the country is under direct attack and the schedule would be a gift to the enemy. If there’s a public safety reason to delay the UK general election, the UK general election can be delayed.

Ukraine has a standing law predating Zelenskyy to the exact same effect. And even Zelenskyy’s political rivals agree it’d be nuts to hold election rallies and advertised ballots while Russia’s still firing targeted missiles at choice locations. It’d be a turkey shoot, and even Zelenskyy’s opponents understand that.
