Such a shame. She had a beautiful voice, she was my favorite female vocalist.

When the greats “pass on” ... I always wonder what great music we missed. What songs didn’t she sing yet? So Sad.

Just a heartbroken soul with the voice of an angel.

I adored her. She’s still at the top of my list of female pop singers.
1. Karen Carpenter
2. Patsy Cline
3. Aretha Franklin
4. Anne Murray
5. Linda Ronstadt
Opinions vary, I know. That’s kinda my preferred array of sounds.

I wonder how much of how much of her condition reflected lessons learned from her mother at an early age. Hard to believe that she got into Anorexia without some sort of influence happening in her life.
To: Migraine
That’s a good list. I differ on one of the list, but I can’t come up with a better replacement.

Even Buddy Rich complemented her drumming.

Swap Alison Krause for Murray and Anita Baker for Franklin and I’m with you.

I always gasp when I look at some of her last TV interviews. She was basically a skeleton with some skin.
I’ve been a huge fan of the Carpenters since I was a kid. Karen’s voice was incredible, and she knew how to use it so beautifully. Richard’s arrangements were incredible as well.
