I think they’re in for a sudden, rude awakening.
I have no idea if an awakening will be sudden or not.
I can just tell that there are many here who think breaking rules that they think are stupid makes it ok to do so.
It reminds me of Democrats. Why have voter ID? That’s a stupid election rule. Signature match? Stupid rule.
Let’s get rid of all the rules. That’ll make it more fun to watch. It won’t be fair, but life ain’t fair.
That’s what I’m hearing reading through this thread.
No, there are rules. He can’t pay your players. There used to be a rule against that, at any rate. You can’t give 200 players full scholarships. You can’t practice year round. You can’t pay off the officials. And you can’t scout opponents games in person. If you aren’t playing by the rules, you aren’t playing the game.
I wonder if it is ungentlemanly and cheating for us to have broken the Japanese code in WWII and the Brits to have broken enigma.
Nice. And we get into the funny part of these kinds of rules. There’s actually no rule against decoding the signals. Teams are free to try figure them out during the game. They’re even free to use video, both NCAA “approved” video (ie TV and official game tape), and “other” (people posting videos), they’re just not allowed to send scouts to do it. It’s all part of the silliness of these kinds of rules. There’s 6 ways you could decipher the signals, 5 of them are OK, and now we’ll get in a tizzy cause you used all 6.
