BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Iconic as he was controversial, Bob Knight for decades embodied the spirit of basketball in a corner of the world mad about it. His hard-nosed, fundamentals-driven style and attention to detail became deeply rooted in the culture of the sport for basketball fans in southern Indiana and elsewhere, his admirers standing as ardently by him as his critics often chastised him.

That’s the one whom President Trump calls “Bobby Knight”!
May his Memory be Eternal!!!!
I liked watching you take take the bull by the horns at Texas Tech. RIP, Coach.
I’ll try to throw a chair across the room in remembrance
I loved him - warts and all. Every player that ever played for him (and honored his commitment) would probably say the same thing.
#2 behind Wooden imo, but a better molder of men.
Being from Indiana I used to go to those games in Bloomington. I am sad to hear this because he brought many hours if fun and excitement. It has never been the same since he left Indiana U.
RIP Bobby
You were blessed. I was hoping he’d go to PSU instead of TTU. But alas.
As an IU basketball fan from childhood , who had season tickets for many years , I am saddened.
RIP Coach.
( I wonder if they will bury him face down as he wished?)
RIP Coach Knight.
Say ‘hello’ to The Pirate, coach.
Rest in Peace, Bobby…
I also was from Indiana....still close by. Loved the team in the 80’s with that red haired German kid that played(Uve?), Steve Alford, can,t remember the others.
The General... you either loved him or you hated him....lol.
Great Coach, great man. Thank you Coach Knight and God Bless.
Bobby was the only “Father Figure” in many of those kids lives, and for the most part he made them better men.
That undefeated 75-76 team still IMHO is the best team I’d ever seen.
RIP.
We’ll see if his family honors his wish to be buried upside down so his critics could come by and kiss his ass.
One of a kind. A great man, a great American.
Thank you for being who you were, Coach Knight.
Even though Mr. Knight wasn’t a genuine Hoosier, he will always be known as a Hoosier icon. He was my namesake, and as a native Hoosier with the same name, it was always a conversation started until about 10 years ago. RIP, MY BROTHER.
