I think that it is for CENTCOM, Area of Responsibility (AOR) includes the “stans” (Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.) and the Persian Gulf area. https://www.centcom.mil/AREA-OF-RESPONSIBILITY/
With the situation as it is in that area, it is understandable that the USMC would not want to let its guard down.
