The last time I was in San Francisco, I was there for a conference and went down to Union Square. It was mid-summer and there were throngs of tourists from all over the world standing line to ride the cable car. Two guys had positioned themselves in front of the self-service ticket kiosk and were adding a dollar to the price and buying the tickets to hand to people. And people were obliging them!

I won’t ask what might have happened if people tried to buy their own tickets. (*sigh*) One more reason to stay away.
