High school is really enough education for making one well rounded. Then college is a bunch of fluff to keep professors employed.

Why does, say, a packaging engineer need to study early English literature?

A proper education is, yes.
However, they’ve taken what probably can be learned in 8 years and stretched it to 12 years with 4 years of basket weaving courses.

That’s not to say education should not be 12 years, but it needs to be core material.

What you do is actually quite interesting.

The variety of containers for all sorts of goods is amazing!

I have often wondered why products don’t have containers
that are designed to be more useful to people once the contents are emptied out.

i.e. I use 2ltr soda bottles for many things and rarely toss them out.

I have a large set of glasses that were originally jelly jars that my Grandma collected in the 30’s .. you can see they were designed to fill that purpose once empty... a very cool idea!
