The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday advanced the nomination of former Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew to be the U.S. ambassador to Israel, at one of the most perilous moments in the Jewish state’s history.
The committee approved Lew by a mostly partisan vote of 12-9. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the only Republican to vote in support of the nomination.
Lew’s work during the Obama administration in implementing the sanctions relief the U.S. agreed to provide to Iran as part of the multinational nuclear deal was the source of much of the GOP grievances against the longtime senior Democratic official.
But the urgency of the moment, when the Biden administration is working to prevent the Israel-Hamas war from expanding to include the likes of Hezbollah and Iran and to protect the approximately 600,000 U.S. citizens in Israel, convinced Republicans not to stall the nomination.

"After meeting personally with Jack Lew, I found him to be a thoughtful individual who will strive to do his best to represent the United States in Israel," Paul said.
Although, Ron Paul is not really somebody I respect, I can respect his son. Rand Paul seems to be more sincere in his libertarian positions than Ron Paul.
I do hope that he supported him because he will represent the US well.
Rand is someone who does what he believes is best for the US. Hard to fault him if he feels that Lew is credible.
“Rand is someone who does what he believes is best for the US.”
Bump
This Administration favors Iranians who kill American servicemen and women over Israelis who suffered a genocidal attack. This same Iran would kill every Jew in Israel if it could. Any American who supports Lew or Massey should be ashamed of themselves.
I have noticed a lot of libertarian leaning people tend to be supportive of things anti-Israel and leaving our border unprotected.
Yeah.
Paul claque historically had a lot of antiSemitism.
I agree, Rand knows what he is doing and how it will effect the US. Lew wont make a difference anyway.
“I’m done with him! I cant trust the guy anymore! I am going to use all my Rand Paul t-shirts to housebreak the dog! /spit! Bye!”

The Grape one weighs in.
The man needs something to do. Important position yes but going nowhere. He’s a heavyweight politically speaking.
Mark Levin has talked on his shows, since last week, about how Lew backed Iran, the Iran deal, and more horrors. Yep, Biden Regime pick for Israel ambassador.
