A lot of the writers for the show came from Star Trek, I think I saw David Gerrold, D.C> Fontana and Walter Koening, IIRC. I think a few of the old pulp SF writers that were still alive were there, I think I saw Theodore Sturgeon too.
That show despite being cheesy and low budget had some things going for it.
Far Out Space Nuts could be remade and done a lot better.
Think like classic early Dr Who versus the rebooted series with the effects and writing catching up with the original ideas.

When I was a kid, Land Of The Lost was the signal that cartoons were over and now it was time to go play outside or something. I don’t think I ever watched a single episode. Same deal with Soul Train. Of course now I find myself watching old Soul Train episodes on Youtube and realizing how great they were. Maybe a similar missed opportunity with LOTL...
