About 45 ships are scheduled for retirement over the next 3 years. 85 ships are in the planning and ordering stage...ordering stage meaning, they don’t exist yet no keel has been laid.
Among the active commissioned ships is the wooden USS Constitution, but I doubt it can muster for battle in the Pacific against China.
Is it feasible and would it be helpful to tecommission those Iowa class battleships that are still capable of it? Or are they truly too vulnerable to missile/drone attacks to be viable?
Did I hear wrong?
Weren’t we supposed to get up to a 600 ship navy?
