Agree...IIRC...they used to shoot horse rustlers on the spot in the wild wild west, because a man’s horse was tied to his survival.

He didn’t shoot the thief to recover his truck, he shot him in self defense when the thief tried to kill him. Self defense is always a valid reason. It sucks that he got hurt in the process but a dead thief is a good thief.
