They (Indians) maintained an equilibrium with the buffs for millennia. Not so with neighboring tribes they fought over to secure the food.
I’m sure when the Buff populations were real low they were the final nail in the coffin of the great herds. At least until Ted Turner bought up millions of acres and bred them.
