They (Indians) maintained an equilibrium with the buffs for millennia. Not so with neighboring tribes they fought over to secure the food.

I’m sure when the Buff populations were real low they were the final nail in the coffin of the great herds. At least until Ted Turner bought up millions of acres and bred them.

The company brought in heifer bison.
The fence between them needed fixing.
The cow pen was nasty dirty.
The bison pen was clean.
It was an easy decision.
I pulled into the bison pen, fixed the fence and got out of there
Not without some trepidition.
They bunched up behind me and snorted their different sounds
