It's a remarkably stupid strategy - one that most owners would jump at, especially if it might let them wiggle around the NFL salary cap. Williams would end up with some meaningless sliver of ownership that would give him zero say in any team or corporate decisions, would let the team avoid paying him in cash, and which he could not easily sell.
If I were an owner I'd be all over that.

Somehow I think the NFL will want to stop this before it starts.
(Even a retired Tom Brady hasn’t got the chunk of a team yet that he’s been eyeing.)

Will never happen- the benefit could not be calculated against the salary cap.
