A few important things about this day.
All day long, power engineers and rescuers have been working very actively in Kherson region and also in Donetsk region to eliminate the consequences of strikes on power facilities. In particular, there were power outages in Kherson today due to Russian bombs. Our repair crews are doing their best. As of now, Kherson has electricity and water supply restored in almost the entire city, except for ten houses in the Tavriyskyi neighborhood. As for these houses, the repair work should be completed tomorrow.
We must be aware that there will be more such Russian attacks as winter approaches - on generation facilities and the grid. We must be prepared for this. We will strengthen our air defense as much as possible in the current circumstances. And even more: we are agreeing with our partners on such defense steps that have not been used before. However, a lot will depend on the readiness of local authorities, particularly in cities, and on the preparatory work of energy companies and telecom operators. Everyone has to do their part in defense to prevent Russian terror from stopping Ukraine this winter. Just like on the battlefield, we must be as resilient and strong as possible in all areas.
The week’s schedule includes new meetings, new conversations with partners on strengthening Ukraine and our defense. We will also work to make the reconstruction process in Ukraine more active. We are also preparing new steps to ensure that in the current security situation in the world, attention to Ukraine is maintained at a sufficient level.
Ukrainian diplomats, intelligence, and security forces continue to work to help our citizens who have found themselves in the Middle East: in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The evacuation of Ukrainians from Israel continues: more than 200 people have already been taken to Romania, mostly women and children. New flights are being prepared. We know about almost 260 Ukrainians who are currently in the Gaza Strip. Currently, the exit from Gaza is blocked for citizens of all countries, but we are working with our partners to evacuate our citizens. Ukrainian diplomats are ready to help every citizen who needs it. Therefore, I once again appeal to all Ukrainians who may be abroad and need help: please contact our diplomatic missions abroad at any time and in any way.
And one more thing. Every day our cities, villages in the regions bordering Russia and along the front line are subjected to terrorist attacks by the occupier. And every day, our people receive help there, which is very important. No matter what happens, Ukrainians take care of each other, and the state remains functional. Ukraine cannot be defeated because our people cannot be defeated.
Please support and thank everyone who works for the sake of people, who protects lives. Our rescuers, doctors, nurses, volunteers, police officers, utility workers, power engineers – those without whom there would be no normal life. Everyone is important. Everyone deserves gratitude.

The war in Ukraine might be going on without any light at the end of the tunnel, but life in Russia continues.
In a few months, Russian citizens will flock to the polls to vote for their new leader.
Although the war in Ukraine has gone terribly for the Russian military, with more than 300,000 casualties and thousands of heavy weapon systems lost, Russian President Vladimir Putin will almost certainly continue to rule over Russia.
Election Year in Russia
In its latest estimate on the war, the British Military Intelligence assessed that “Russian President Vladimir Putin will almost certainly run again, despite having not yet publicly announced his intention to do so,” in the upcoming elections that are set to take place on March 17.
Putin hasn’t launched his bid yet, but he is likely to do it in the following weeks, which would align with the end of the summer/fall fighting season. Judging from the pace of the fighting, it is increasingly likely that the Ukrainian military wouldn’t have achieved an operational breakthrough by that point. That would translate to a victory for the Kremlin and Putin, and it is likely to influence the election.
There is a particular contradiction in the Russian political system. Although elections are often manipulated by powerful interests and are subject to interference by the Kremlin, they are still considered a necessary component of the country’s society.
“It is almost certain that Putin’s election campaign will focus on the theme of Russia as a separate civilisation in need of defence from external enemies – a narrative frequently used to justify the state’s actions and Putin’s consolidation of power,” the British Military Intelligence stated.
“In the build-up to the election, the Kremlin will almost certainly seek to minimise unpopular policy moves. It is therefore highly unlikely that any further mobilisation wave will be implemented before the March 2024 presidential election,” the British Military Intelligence added.
Putin and War Termination
Putin’s fate in power is tied to the outcome of the conflict, and that is going to determine how this war ends.
With hundreds of thousands of Russians dead and wounded and heavy sanctions over the country, anything less than a victory would be disastrous for the Russian autocrat. The Wagner Group’s mutiny over the summer showed that there is serious discontent with how the war is going and the leadership of Putin himself, who, after all, is responsible for leading his country to this ill-fated adventure.
The key—especially for any negotiations—is to determine how Moscow defines victory. It is safe to assume that the Kremlin considers the Crimean Peninsula out of bounds. The war in Ukraine really started in 2014 with the illegal invasion and annexation of Crimea. Since then, the Russian military has turned the Peninsula into a big military base. Moscow won’t let Crimea go without a fierce fight. Further complicating matters, Kyiv has reiterated its intention of liberating Crimea before the war ends.
As Putin is heading toward another cycle, the war in Ukraine looms largely over him.

An entire Russian trenchline surrendered today when they were overrun by Ukrainian forces near Verbove. Russian forces appear to be in bad shape, even the elite VDV is having troubles keeping cohesion. The Russian offensive at Avdiivka already appears to have been defeated as they are not pushing as hard as they have been for the past few days.
Israel is fighting a war on two fronts in Lebanon and Gaza, as they continue to crush terrorist groups. The Iron Beam system was used for the first time today.

Day 599 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
During the day of October 15, there were 57 combat engagements. The enemy launched 7 missile and 54 air strikes, 22 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
The operational situation in east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues to shell Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Popivka, Shalyhyne (Sumy oblast), Udy, Vovchanski Khutory, Hatyshche, and Budarky.
KUPYANSK AXIS: Ukrainian soldiers repelled more than 15 enemy attacks in the vicinities of Synkivka and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Kamyanka, Synkivka, Kucherivka, and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of settlements of Druzhelyubivka, Cherneshchyna (Kharkiv oblast), Bilohorivka, Serebryanske forestry, Novolyubivka (Luhansk oblast), Hryhorivka, Siversk, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Rozdolivka, Novosadove, Torske, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: the Ukrainian soldiers repelled 4 enemy attacks near Klishchiyivka and Andriyivka. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Klishchiyivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Hora, and Dyliyivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske, Vasyukivka, Klishchiyivka, and Kurdyumivka (Donetsk oblast).
AVDIYIVKA AXIS: the occupants conducted unsuccessful assault operations with the support of aviation in the vicinities of Avdiyivka, Keramik, Stepove, Tonenke, and Sjeverne (Donetsk oblast). The Ukrainian defense forces repelled more than 15 enemy attacks. The invaders launched air strikes near Ocheretyne and Stepove (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Lastochkyne, Avdiyivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: during the day of October 15, Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled more than 15 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Maryinka (Donetsk oblast). The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Maryinka, Pobjeda, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiyivka, Maryinka, Pobjeda, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
SHAKHTARSKE AXIS: the Ukrainian soldiers repelled an enemy attack in the area north of Pryyutne (Donetsk oblast). Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Makarivka, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast) came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: the adversary made 3 attempts to regain the lost position in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast), to no success. More than 15 settlements, including Hulyaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Poltavka, Robotyne, and Stepove (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON AXIS: the occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Burhunka, Odradokamyanka, Mykolaivka, Olhivka, Stepanivka (Kherson oblast), and Ivanivka (Mykolaiv oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at Zolota Balka, Kherson, and Chornobaivka (Kherson oblast).
At the same time, the Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation on Melitopol axis and offensive (assault) operations on Bakhmut axis, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.
During the day of October 15, Ukrainian Air Force launched 15 air strikes on the concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment, 1 air strike on the anti-aircraft missile system of the adversary.
The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1 concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment, 1 radar station, and 4 artillery systems of the adversary.

According to information received from the Ukrainian underground, unsuccessful attempts by Russian occupation forces to assault Ukrainian positions resulted in huge losses for the occupiers.
