I agree. But like Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley is yet another Republican politician who is willing to turn her back on the Constitution. Yes, I am talking about Nikki Haley conveniently forgetting the fact that she is not an Art. II, §1, cl. 5 natural-born citizen when it stands in her way of the presidency or the vice presidency.
Let’s be clear, U.S. citizenship bestowed by the state via positive law at birth or afterwards is a naturalized U.S. citizen, not a natural U.S. citizen.
Young Turks’Cenk Uygur has conveniently shown us what can happen if we allow this to happen. Even though Cenk Uygur is a naturalized citizen, he has, “...lawyered up”… to take his case to the Supreme Court so he can take the oath of office of the President of the United States if he wins.
In a way, I hope Cenk’s threat isn’t hyperbolic. I, too, would really like SCOTUS to address this issue and put it to bed once and for all.
No fan of either Haley or Ramaswamy. However, we have had two Presidents, Chester Arthur and Barack Obama, who had fathers who were not American citizens at the time of their births. The original context of natural born citizen meant that both parents had to be either native born or naturalized citizens. But with two non qualified Presidents, the natural born citizen clause is a dead letter.
With that way of thinking, I guess we can forget about the 2nd amendment since it’s been violated ... More than once!🤔
