For example, there does not appear to be a Shalovograd University, or Research Institute affiliated with Huawei.
"Russian teenage prodigy Valeria, the world programming champion" is not. The team she was a member of, from Nizhny Novgorod State University, won an obscure contest for teams, not individuals, back in 2020.
Huawei has a small research group at Nizhny Novgorod. She and Ilya got jobs there apparently.
In terms of international ratings of universities Nizhny Novgorod is in the top 800 according to one source, and is number 1,455 worldwide according to US News and World Report's rankings. That's probably impressive to Russians, since it is rated 18th in Russia, but not so much to the rest of the world.'
