A lot of fish is raised in China, or raised here and sent to China for processing. If you saw the conditions, you wouldn't eat it. The article doesn't mention tilapia, but that is one of them.

I read that the tilapia farms are placed below the massive chicken coops so they only have to feed the chickens.
Never ate tilapia again after I read that.

Florida farms tilapia, too, which is delicious... and the other day I saw a bag of whole scaled tilapia farmed in the Amazon. I have had the South American tilapia and it tastes great too.
But I avoid the Chinese tilapia, as it is often super-fishy and mushy. Apparently they don’t let the fish get very old before harvest, or else they can’t survive long enough in sewage to grow up, lol.

We eat fish from US waters, and NO tilapia!
Now I know why!

Tilapia smells like garbage to me. I tried it once and almost vomited. Never again.

i don’t eat it anyway: eating farmed fish and shrimp kept making us ill ... we finally figured it out and now won’t eat farmed seafood ... period ...
