What Davydov reporting on Bakhmut meant is was a long, drawn out Pyrrhic victory for Russia. It was the Russian shills on YouTube treating Bakhmut like it won the war for Russia.

Russia attacked Bakhmut, Vuhledar, and Avdiivka because their logistics are so poor these are the only place they can attack. Ever since Russia consolidated taking Bakhmut, they have not advanced further because they can't.
