Some people are naturally meant to be heavy - one can tell from their bone structure. Having some above average pounds has a genetic advantage overall.
Other people are overweight from eating too much overly processed food, drinking carbonated beverages that break down food in the stomach fast, and because some prescription drugs cause weight gain.
Yes, people are eating the wrong kinds of foods, especially carbohydrates. I don’t think there’s any less discipline now than there was back in the day, it’s just that the crappy processed foods were not as available back then.
I’m one of those people who seems to gain weight by looking at food.
I’ve cut out processed foods, sugar and the like to almost none. It helped a lot and Wellbutrin has helped me a great deal. Craving stuff is way down.
