Sailor proof: Got myself in a bit of a spot once for using that. I was explaining in my class how we made certain wrenches that only did one job and were thus “sailor proof.” A Commander in the class took umbrage and noted the safety feature applied to others also. So I added “yardbird” to the explaination. I reminded him later, outside, that those very same wrenches were prohibited to be monkeyed with by anyone except sailors. He never bothered me again so it was a win.

Yep, and if you needed something sketchy done. The officer makes an oblique reference about what needs to be done to the Chief. The Chief does the same to the 1st class/LPO who speaks to the E-3 mafia and the sketchy operation gets done without any way to connect it back up the chain of command.
