The Japanese had six large, for the time, carriers at Pearl Harbor. Six months later, four of them were on the bottom of the Pacific.
If we had six Carrier Battle Groups in the Med we would have more air power than every nation touching the Med, combined, including Israel. One Nimitz or Ford-class is worth six of the smaller carriers operated by France, Italy, and Britain.
