Good man, gymbeau, but don’t give up on Pierre yet. Other Conservatives have fooled us enough that we absolutely should be wary, but Poilievre feels different to me. He sounds more sincere rather than practiced. Truth rolls off the tongue easily and doesn’t require much thought, while platitudes and pandering need careful thought to be tailored to the audience, or they just sound like what they are - platitudes and pandering.
Poilievre is much younger than Trump so he doesn’t have his life or media experience, but it sounds to me like he’s speaking the truth like PDJT does. Canadians are still heavily influenced by our media, so Poilievre has to be careful not to sound too much like Trump, since Canadians have been brainwashed to believe Trump is bad. He’s walking a fine line and seems to be doing it well. Turdeau is so disliked that the next election appears to be Poilievre’s to lose as long as he doesn’t say or do anything that the Turdeau media can blow out of proportion. It remains to be seen whether or not he’s just a more authentic-sounding slick and slimy.

I met PP once, during my second time working at Reform’s national office here in Cowtown. Basically just a greeting and handshake. Sometime between 2000 and 2002. He was an up and coming Reformer, much like Ezra Levant (who I interviewed briefly for a Reform video in my first Reform incarnation).
His Reform bona fides seem fine. It’s the swamp he lives in that worries me. I like what I’ve seen so far, though and give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, Rempel Garner seems to have gone swamp after a good start (I miss her predecessor, Diane Ablonczy, with whom I worked closely in our constituency).
She’ll win this riding easily, though. Last time there was no PPC candidate here so I had to support her but I’d like the choice this time, to send the message that they shouldn’t get cocky.
