So, first things first. Based on the scale, the “structures” are ~ 8 mile spacing, and ~1/2 mile across. Roughly 14 across , 13 tall with some skips both directions and extras into the bay. As you point out, some are depressions, some are mounds. That’s a big project, and I don’t figure anything dig-ups from oil rig drilling (not on that scale anyway).
Gislane had access to subs, the R family had all kinds of money and obviously advanced technology at their disposal. Were they tunnel openings that led through the up to 10 km deep tunnels? Think Matrix movie subs going through tunnels, but that the bad guys use in our version instead of the good guys in the movie. It’s possible (BARELY given deep sea pressures) with known technology, but when combined with some of the other technologies revealed so far that the peasants weren’t allowed it could be possible. But some are raised instead of tunnels (unless a huge side door entrance?).
Other than that, some sort of array? For communications?? Making everything the same height off the sea floor, with an individual equipment package at the center of each to do so?
It would make the “ET phone home” record player look pretty sub standard. And why at the south pole, instead of along the equator if that’s the case, where the planet turns it to a certain direction daily?
Maybe check around the North polar sea bed for the other end. Who knows, but we’ll probably find out within our lifetime I’d put odds on.
Or a military just had some munitions to play with like high school kids with a toilet and firecrackers... ;-)
